This Privacy Notice explains how Pikiko collects, uses, stores, shares and protects personal information when you use our website, mobile beta app, account features, gig marketplace, messaging, location and safety tools.
This notice applies to people who visit pikiko.app, create or use a Pikiko account, look for short-term work, post gigs, communicate through Pikiko, use PikikoSafe, contact support, or otherwise interact with Pikiko.
Pikiko is currently being tested and prepared for broader launch. Our privacy practices and product features may evolve, but we will update this notice when material changes affect how personal information is handled.
We may collect your name, email address, phone number, date of birth or age confirmation, profile photo, preferred role, account settings, work interests, profile details, verification status and other information you choose to add to your account.
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google may provide Pikiko with basic account information that you authorize, such as your name, email address, profile image and a unique Google account identifier. Pikiko does not receive your Google password.
We use Google sign-in information to authenticate you, create or connect your Pikiko account, reduce duplicate or fraudulent accounts and help provide account support. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell Google user data.
When you use the marketplace, we may process gig posts, applications, availability, application status, work history, completion status, reviews, ratings, reliability information and related records needed to operate worker and employer journeys.
We may process messages sent through Pikiko, support requests, feedback, reports, dispute information and moderation records. This information may be reviewed when necessary to provide support, investigate abuse, enforce platform rules or protect users.
Pikiko may use location information to help users find relevant gigs, display an approximate work area, provide navigation after a worker is accepted, and support optional safety features.
Before acceptance, Pikiko is designed to show an approximate area rather than exposing a private exact job address. Exact destination information may be made available to an accepted worker when needed to complete the gig.
If you activate a safety session, safe trip or trusted-contact feature, Pikiko may process the information required to operate that feature, which can include safety-session status, trip information, trusted-contact details and location updates where you have granted permission. These features are intended to support user safety and are not a replacement for emergency services.
We may automatically receive technical information such as IP address, device or browser type, operating system, session information, timestamps, authentication events, error information and security logs. We use this information to run the service, diagnose problems, prevent abuse and protect accounts.
If payment features are enabled, Pikiko may receive transaction references, payment status and limited payment metadata from an appropriately licensed payment provider. Pikiko is not designed to store a user's full card number, mobile-money PIN or equivalent payment credential.
We collect information in several ways:
We may use personal information to:
Pikiko requests only the Google account information needed for the sign-in flow we present to you. We use that information for account authentication and account-related functionality described in this notice.
Pikiko's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, where applicable.
We do not sell personal information to advertisers. We may share information only where needed to operate Pikiko, provide a feature you request, protect users or meet a legal obligation.
Information needed to participate in a gig may be shared between the relevant worker and employer. We aim to limit sensitive information until it is necessary for the work relationship.
If you intentionally activate a trusted-contact or safe-trip feature, information necessary for that feature may be shared with the contact you selected.
We use third-party providers to help us run Pikiko. Depending on the feature, these may include providers for cloud hosting, databases, authentication, Google sign-in, mapping or geocoding, communications, security and payments. Examples of current or planned infrastructure include Supabase, Vercel, Google services and mapping or communications providers. They may process information on our behalf or under their own applicable terms.
We may disclose information where we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, necessary to respond to lawful process, needed to investigate fraud or abuse, or necessary to protect the rights, safety or security of users, Pikiko or others. If Pikiko is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
Location deserves additional protection. Pikiko is designed so a public gig can use an approximate area without automatically exposing a private exact destination. Exact job-location information should be available only when needed for an accepted work relationship.
Optional live or periodic safety-location features require user permission. You can stop sharing by ending the relevant safety session or changing device permissions. Safety-session information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot or investigate that session, subject to applicable legal requirements.
Pikiko may use cookies, local storage, authentication tokens or similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in, remember essential preferences, protect sessions and operate the service. If we introduce non-essential analytics or advertising technologies that require additional notice or consent, we will update our practices and disclosures accordingly.
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this notice, including operating your account, completing gigs, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, maintaining security and meeting legal obligations.
Retention periods can differ by data type. For example, account and transaction records may need to be retained longer than temporary safety-session information. When information is no longer needed, we aim to delete, anonymize or securely isolate it as appropriate.
Depending on applicable law and the nature of your request, you may be able to:
Some information may need to be retained after a deletion request where required for legal, fraud-prevention, security, dispute or record-keeping purposes.
You may request account deletion through available in-app account controls or by contacting Pikiko through our Support page. You can also manage or revoke Pikiko's access to your Google Account through your Google Account security settings. Revoking Google access does not automatically delete information already lawfully stored in your Pikiko account, so you should also request Pikiko account deletion if that is what you want.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information, including access controls, authentication, separation of sensitive data, secure transport and security monitoring. No system can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their credentials and devices.
Pikiko is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly provide the marketplace to children under 18. If we learn that an underage person has created an account in violation of our rules, we may remove the account and associated information as appropriate.
Some technology providers that support Pikiko may process information in countries outside Ghana. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we aim to use providers and safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and applicable law.
We may update this Privacy Notice as Pikiko changes. When we make a material update, we will change the "Last updated" date and may provide additional notice in the app or website where appropriate.
For privacy questions, requests or complaints, contact Pikiko through our Support page. Please include enough information for us to identify the account or issue without sending passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
You may also have the right to raise a complaint with the relevant data-protection authority under applicable law.
